UCAS Menu

This is the main UCAS menu which allows you to browse through and manage the UCAS applications for the leavers in your School. The top half of the form deals with actual applications, whereas the bottom half is for searching through existing UCAS applications. This tool was primarily intended for the Head of Sixth form (or whoever deals with UCAS applications) to find out what students have actually needed to get into a particular university or course in the past. This obviously works better the more you use the UCAS area, since you’ll have more information to work with.

To browse through the existing applications, first select the year from the “Leavers at the end of” drop down to filter applications to students leaving within that period. Once this is selected you can use the Applications button to browse through each Pupil’s record of application, or use the Results spreadsheet button to produce a spreadsheet populated with the selected Year group’s Pupils’ A level exam results as set within the system.

The search section allows you to filter applications by a number of criteria, and any combination of these can be filled in – leaving the others blank is fine. Once you have entered your search criteria, hit the Searches button to open all applications which meet the selected criteria. If this box opens empty, it means that no results were returned from your search. You can quickly clear the contents of all the search filters by clicking the Clear search criteria button.

The search filters themselves are for the most part self-explanatory. One that might not be obvious is the searching by GCSE mean score. If the GCSE results have been imported into SchoolBase®, the average GCSE result will have been calculated for each pupil. This filter allows you to search between two numerical values low to high which correspond with the GCSE grades (A* = 8, A = 7, B = 6, C = 5, D = 4, E = 3, F = 2, G = 1).

A form for viewing and adding to the list of Universities in the system can be accessed by clicking the University List button at the bottom of this form. This form stores the full University name, and the code and code name associated with the University.
