Where a set or option group contains the same pupils as last year, or where the pupils in one setting pattern are the same for other subjects, the ‘Group Sorter’ on the ‘Support Functions’ menu should prove a real benefit at this stage.

For example, if your Y9 maths groups are the same as last year’s Y8, or if Chemistry, Biology and Physics are all taught in the same groups, the Group Sorter will save a lot of work.
In the example above, next year’s Year 8 Maths sets are the same as next year’s Science sets. Once these settings are entered, clicking the Sort now button completes the process.
If, having done Maths as shown here based on the Science sets, you know your ICT is done in the same groups, just change the ‘To curriculum’ and select the ICT groups and Sort Now once again.
Remember you can copy a group from the same year as well as from the previous year, so if pupils are taught in the same groups for more than one subject you should only ever need to sort them once.
