Timetable exceptions are created using the period structure rather than real times. They can therefore be created without undertaking the real-time set-up described above. For example, let’s suppose you want to block out a lesson on a teacher’s timetable for a regular department meeting. This is how you would do it:_

Select Exceptions from the Build & Maintain menu. Any previously-created exceptions will be displayed in the list on the left. If the list is a long one, a particular exception can be found using the drop-down filters at the top of the list.
Creating a new Timetable Exception
- Click the New exception button
- Select the period using the dropdown
- Select the room using the dropdown
- Select the teacher using the dropdown
If the exception relates to an event which does not include pupils (for example a meeting or another non-teaching activity):-
- Enter an Identifier (name) for the exception
- Close the Timetable Exceptions tab to save it and add the exception to the list.
- If the exception involves one or more pupils:-
Carry out steps 1-4 as above, then:-
- Click the teaching Group checkbox
- If a curriculum group already exists for the exception, select it from the dropdown
- If a curriculum group has not yet been set up, click the New Group button
Set up the new group by deciding whether reports are going to be required for the new lesson, selecting a subject, giving the group a name, and clicking Create Now.
Pupils can been added either one at a time, or from an existing Tag Group
If you wish to add another lesson with the same group, create a new exception but select the group you have already created. There is no need to reselect the pupils. If you want to add the same group to one or more teachers for one or more periods, you can do so at a single pass. Click the 'Multi Add' button on the timetable exceptions form and select Period(s), Teacher(s), Room and teaching group and finish with 'Add now'.
Deleting a timetable exception
Locate the exception as above, and then click the Delete. However, if reports have been generated the group cannot be deleted.
Exceptions can be copied from the previous academic year to the one you are working on by using the button.
