To create the curriculum, return to the main Time Planner form and go to the Manage menu, then select Curriculum and View. You will then be presented with the curriculum for the working year, which will almost certainly be empty.

The quickest way to create the curriculum is to copy the current year’s curriculum. To do this go to the Curriculum menu and select Copy From Current Year. This will replace the curriculum with a copy of the current year, which can then be amended as appropriate. You will be asked if you wish to replace the existing curriculum.

Simply click yes to continue.

It is essential that the number of sets and the number of periods are correctly set before starting to create groups or timetable lessons. Errors in these settings will take significant amounts of time to resolve once the timetable has been created. If a curriculum is to be taught by form then enter 0 as the number of sets.

You can set the colour for individual curriculum items however the more usual approach is to set colours at the subject level.

Creating groups

Once the curriculum has been created and corrected you can start to create the teaching groups. Although it is possible to create the teaching groups for the whole school the more usual process to focus on one part of the school. This can be done by going to the Groups menu, selecting View and then filtering either by Subject or Year.

Once the desired curriculum items have been found you can either create the groups from scratch or copy them from the current year.

Creating Groups

To create the groups go to the Groups menu, select Create Groups and then select either Selected Curriculum or All Curriculum. All Curriculum will create the groups for all curriculum items currently displayed in the Curriculum screen, and Selected Curriculum will create teaching groups for any curriculum items that have been ticked in the Select column.

Copying Groups

To copy the teaching groups from the current year go to the Groups menu and select the Copy option. You will be shown the Copy screen which will present you with a number of options.
