Basics

When you first open SchoolBase® on your machine you should switch on the FBS toolbar and switch off any other toolbars which are open. You can then position the toolbar along the top or down the side of the screen, whichever you prefer. In case you are unfamiliar with this process, here is how you do it:

  • click on the View menu on the menu bar and select Toolbars.
  • when you do another list pops open
  • click on FBS so that it becomes ticked
  • if other toolbars are open, repeat the process and click on each to remove the toolbar

At the end of the toolbar you will see a row of four dots. If you position the pointer over these a four-headed arrow appears. You can now use this to drag the toolbar where you want it, either free-standing (as below) or docked into the top or side of the window.

  1. Print Preview – you can print a copy of any form displayed on the screen. Click this button to get an idea of what it will look like. You may need to change the print settings before printing it. To return to the form view click the same button again
  2. Print (Ctrl+P) – once you have a form or report visible in Print Preview, click here to send it to the printer.
  3. Undo (Ctrl+Z)– if you have typed a value into a field, clicking this button will clear the field again
  4. Cut (Ctrl+X) – any text highlighted on the screen will be removed to the clipboard. It can then be pasted to another destination.
  5. Copy (Ctrl+C) – any text highlighted on the screen is copied to the clipboard. It can then be pasted to another destination. You could for example highlight a parent’s address and paste it into a letter.
  6. Paste (Ctrl+V) – pastes text (or image) held on the clipboard to the current position of the cursor or into the active window.

  13. Filter by Form – clicking this opens a blank version of the current form. Enter the values you wish to match and then click the Apply Filter button.
