This is one of the Look-up tables which help to customise your system. When adding a new member of staff you would normally mark the teacher as Teaching or Non-teaching staff and then select one of these categories. In the drop-down for this value the possible values are displayed according to the Sort order value displayed in this table and then alphabetically where the sort order is the same.

You can associate categories with departments, e.g. Music peripatetic lessons may be associated with the Music Department.

The Time planned? tickbox defines categories included in the Activities Menu. If you wish to assign a particular activity to a staff menu, the Menu Arg. here is needed to set this up in Forms and Reports.
