This page allows you to automate the process of setting up a training version of SchoolBase:

In order to do this you will need to have a database called SBTraining in your SQL server (which you could restore from a recent backup). See this link for how to restore and update SBTraining. You must also update the SB.ini file in the SBDistribution folder by changing the value under the header [Comp_SBTraining] to In Use = 1. The information required on the form here is as follows:

Cleanse emails to: Your real database contains real Email addresses - you do not want your trainees to be sending out Emails to parents, pupils or staff. However, you do want them to be able to practise the process. This allows you to specify an Email address to which all Emails from SchoolBase® will be redirected.

Release folder: This is where your training version of SchoolBase® will be created.

Once you have entered these parameters, click the Create Now button. Remember - if you need any help, contact the Customer support Desk (01264 354111) and we will talk you through it.

Once you have created the training database, to use it close your usual SchoolBase® and open SBTraining.ade from your local FBS folder. You will first need to open normal SchoolBase® at least once after the training database is created to distribute the training database to your local FBS folder, subsequently you can just open the training database from the local folder without opening regular SchoolBase.

Please note the training database will not automatically update when you update your main SchoolBase®, you need to re-run this process in the Divers form to update the training database version.
