Using the Sanctions and Rewards system included in SchoolBase, you can:- record a sanction (response to negative behaviour) or reward (response to positive behaviour) for any current pupil
- specify a list of sanctions and rewards from which to choose
- use a tagged list to post a sanction or reward to a number of pupils simultaneously
- produce a wide range of summary reports based on the sanctions and rewards which have been awarded
- send a standard letter to one or more pupils’ parents on the basis of sanctions or rewards received

Editing the List of Available Sanctions and Rewards How you access this depends on your system setup but the customary practice is to include this function in the list of Lookup Forms. Double-clicking on the Sanctions and Rewards entry on this form will open up the form shown above.
Each entry on the list must be given a descriptor and classified as either a Reward or Sanction.
Recording a Reward or Sanction To record a reward or sanction for an individual:
- open the relevant pupil record and click on the Rewards and Sanctions tab
- select a reward or sanction from the relevant dropdown (the date and the member of staff are recorded automatically but can be changed)
- for sanctions there is a field for Date Served which can be completed at a later date for a punishment such as a detention
- add an optional explanatory note
- click the Save and Exit button
You can record a reward or sanction for a group of pupils by using the Day Book or by creating a tagged list and posting the sanction or reward. You can use rewards and sanctions, and the dates they were given (or served, in the case of punishments such as detention, which may be served at a later date), as selection criteria in Finder. This means you can use the sanctions and rewards given as the basis for a mail merge, whether that is to produce a certificate of merit or to send a letter home to all those pupils in detention next Friday!
