Pastoral arrangements vary enormously from school to school. Most independent schools have some kind of house system. In some schools pastoral care is organised completely by house, in other completely by form and in others by a mixture of the two. SchoolBase® allows for all these. Using the Houses form you can:

• allocate a housemaster or housemistress
• allocate an assistant housemaster or housemistress
• have different houses in different parts of the school
• assign a tutor specifically to one or more years of pupils within the house
• assign several tutors to the same year

When carrying out the end-of-year data movements, you can, if you wish, automate the allocation of tutors to pupils depending on their year and house. However, this will only work if a single tutor is allocated to all pupils in a particular year in a particular house.
