Assessment

Associated with each subject assessment will normally be one or more scalar values. These may be letters, numbers or words representing levels of attainment or effort. They may vary between types of assessment and between year groups in much the same way as the grades vary between A Level and GCSE. You can create as many of these different Grade Sets as you wish and select one or more of them for each assessment.

To add a new grade set, click on the Grade sets button on the Assessment Menu. If there are already grade sets created, position the cursor in the Name box and then press the Page Down button on the keyboard until a blank record appears. The figure here shows an entry for a possible set of attainment grades together with a brief explanation of the meaning of each. When selecting a grade, the teacher will see both the grades and the meanings.

Each grade can be given a numeric value so that average scores can be calculated for reports or an overall position calculated and tracked. See Tracking Internal Assessments.
