The main Entrance Examination process is carried out on the Entry Procedures form. Start by creating a new group, using the new record button . Give the group a title (Year 7 Entry 2008 in this example), and set the Entry date. This should match the entry date for the Proposed Date In for your prospective pupils. The Into box should be set to the year the prospective pupils intend to join.
Now use the dropdown which has appeared in Component examinations to choose the subjects you wish to include.
The next step is to select which stages of prospect to include, holding down the CTRL key and clicking the required stages. After this, you should press the Assign selected stages button to assign these tests to the selected stages. Scores buttons now appear next to each component. Often these tests are sat by pupils already in the school (in this case pupils in Year 6) who wish to move into a higher section of the school. To do this, select the year from the dropdown adjacent to the Add current year button and then click the button.
Once you have completed this stage, you should see a button labelled Children appear at the bottom of the form. The final stage of the set-up is to create the pupil score template, which enables the Scores buttons alongside each component, so that you can enter results. To do this click the Create pupil score template button. Various buttons now become greyed out to prevent further changes to the set-up.
It may be useful to assign a candidate number to each child. This can help with marking and other administration. Click on the Children button to open the form for doing this.
When the time comes to enter the scores, use the Scores button alongside each subject.
Once all the results are in click the Add to testing and tracking button to add these results to your testing and tracking system. You can then use this to create result sheets.
