The contact types lookup is found in the Pupils/Parents area of SchoolBase Lookups. This allows you to add to and edit the list of types of contact that you can record having had with parents. These are used in the actions area of SchoolBase for keeping track of contact you plan to make with parents, particularly prospective parents, and are used to record letters sent to parents etc, in the pupil record.

The Archived tickbox here allows you to mark old types as no longer in use, so they will not appear on dropdowns where you are creating a new action, but old, existing data using this type will be maintained accurately.

It is possible to add new types, and edit existing types (e.g. to correct a spelling error) but not to delete existing types, as this would damage existing data where the type has been used. It is wise to create new items rather than editing old ones to be something completely different for the same reason, your old data would then be wrong.
