ALIS data is a little difficult to handle because there are multiple lines per pupil as shown in the example below.

On the SchoolBase® website you will find a utility called Alis Converter written in MS Excel which converts the data into a form where it can be imported into SchoolBase®. When you load it, it will warn you that there are macros. You should enable the macros by changing the security setting so that the macros work.

These are the tabs for the worksheets contained in the utility.

Instructions - brief instructions for using the utility and the button to start the process.LPS_Alis - paste your ALIS data into this sheet. Ensure that columns are ordered as follows:

A. Subject names - there is a variable number of rows for each student.

B: Index - ideally the PupOrigNum - this will repeat several times for each student.

C: Surname - this will repeat several times for each student.

D: Forename - this will repeat several times for each student.

J: Prediction

K: Predicted Grade

Names, Subjects and Source - these are working sheets - DO NOT ALTER THEM IN ANY WAY.

Grades and Scores - these are the two sheets which contain the converted data, one showing the predicted grades, the other the predicted scores. The data is copied from here into two further worksheets called FinalGrades and FinalScores which appear when you run the utility. Once you have run the utility they will be in a format which can be imported into SchoolBase®. You should not need to alter them. An example is shown below.

If necessary we can provide you with an adjusted workbook if you wish to extract data from other columns.

Once you have the data in this format you should use the same method of import as in the Turnaround Document Method Steps 3 to 6.

Here is the above data displayed in SchoolBase® as a pair of tracks for a single pupil.

It can also be analysed on a group basis by accessing the Tests and Scores form as shown below:
