Basics

Sometimes a parent rings the school (or worse, just leaves a message) and gives their own name but not that of the child. If this happens you can use the Adult search button to help find the right record. If you have some information already, e.g. that the pupil is in the Junior School, you can narrow the search before clicking this button. On opening the form looks like the figure below.

Listed here are the parents’ names, a search column, the child’s name and part of the school and the parents’ postcode. Clicking the
Search button opens a Search dialogue on the third column as in the next figure.

Change the value of the
Match field to Any Part of Field and then click Find Next. SchoolBase® will carry out a sliding search (not case sensitive) for any parent whose name contains the search letters (adas in the example).

You can also search by postcode if, for example, you have an address but do not have the pupil’s name. Type in all or the first part of the postcode and then press the Enter key. The list will be filtered to parents with matching postcodes.
