Several schools have asked for a variety of new pupil alerts. One school wanted a 'English as a second language alert' another asked for an 'at risk alert' and so on. Then another school asked for notes to be added to a medical alert and yet another that they wanted to have two medical alerts. Now you can and are thanks to CCSS for this inspirational idea.

Medical Alerts

If a pupil currently has a medical alert, this information has been retained. When the Medical rerecord is opened, rather than the tick box there is a clear RED message. There is also a Medical Alert tab where you can list as many alerts as a school requires.

Then when the pupil record is opened by a member of staff, the Medical Alert flag is still there but the alerts (with any noted as the school wishes) are displayed in the 'other information' area.

Special Needs Alerts

Like the medical alert – all existing data has been retained and like the medical alerts a new tab has been created on the Special Needs form.

For both Medical and Special needs we wanted to ensure they took priority over all others thus we have added two system variable to distinguish these from other needs. They have been pre-set so if all you want is that which you have now you need do nothing. These system variables are on the settings page of that form.

New Alerts

We have created two pupil features (Medical and SEN) and marked as 'Alertable' – these are to ensure continuity between version 4.02 and earlier releases and this 4.03 release. You can change the names of the SEN as you see fit and as best suits your establishment. More importantly, you can add your own alertable features. Either tick an existing feature as being alertable or create a new feature(s) and mark as alertable.
