More and more schools have started using the markbook and we have had a lot of feedback to the effect that it's a great idea but not robust enough. So we listened and have done a complete rebuild incorporating a number of new features and removing a bunch of 'undesirable features.
- Firstly you will see that the Academic Years are no longer stranded at the bottom of the form.
- When in use you will find that it is far more stable.
- At the top of the form is an area to select what happend when you click on a lesson on the timetable – previously you only had the choice to go to the period registration section. Now you have three choices. The existing Registration one plus
 - Lesson Plan
- Markbook
- The idea of the lesson plan is twofold. It gives you ALL of the lesson plans for the group rather than the day view that you get from the Start section menu.
- We think you will still want the old view so you can see your day at a glance and will want the new one for more detailed planning for the group. In the Group view a teacher can automatically upload things for their pupils to see when tackling homework.
- The Markbook just saves a few clicks – we have assumed that most of the time teachers will want the current academic year and this is what they get. There is nothing stopping a teacher looking at their Markbook entries for any academic year as they have done previously.
It is on the Markbook page that we have made the greatest number of changes.
- You can have as many columns as you like and when you scroll across the names column remains in place.
- Any column can be sorted A-Z or Z-A simply by clicking the right hand carrot at the top of any column.
- To add a large quantity into a cell you will note a + symbol appear when you hover over it. Click the + symbol to get a larger typing area – or just double click the box. There is no practical limit to the amount of data that may be entered into a single cell.
- Use the left end of a column to select it and get another set of options:
- Rename or delete a column
- Import – as before but now dynamic data – i.e. if it is the age of a pupil the field will update next time it is opened
- Export – as before but with better handling capability
