Central Register

We launched a new version of the Staff Checks and Central Register in 4.01 and clearly whilst changes were needed, we did not give enough thought to the implementation nor build nearly enough information into the release notes. Our apologies for that. Having heard your comments we have now added very significantly to the functionality but first let us explain why the changes. We have read the regulations that sit under all these checks. We have read the interpretation put on these by such bodies at the ISI and we have heard from you how different inspectors have interpreted these and about the only thing that is clear is that different bodies have different interpretations and one inspector can demand something that others are not asking for. Add to this the wish for some schools to not only abide by the letter of the law but the spirit, introducing their own checks etc, and we had a real dilemma. The old system forced you to do it the Furlong way. Now you read your regulations, you listen to your inspector and the system allows you to use it to meet your perceived needs.
