Notes to set up new SMS System
As of the 3.12.01 release of SchoolBase, a new SMS system has been introduced. The old system is still in place - the instructions below should guide you through the switchover process. The new SMS system is email based – there are a few pre-requisites to using the system. If you already set up to use Email functionality from SchoolBase™, the switch should be quite straightforward. If you do not currently use Email functionality in SchoolBase (either using FBSMail or Outlook capabilities) you will need your System Administrators to set this up. Please ensure that your email address is set up in your Staff record as well. There are two new system variables essential to the process; one of which to switch the system over, and a super-user’s email address to contact in the event of eventual failure in message delivery. These System Variables can be found on the bottom of the “Email and Text” tab of the System Variables form - usually found on the DBA Menu.

Next you’ll need to set up these Email addresses as senders for BulkSMS. Firstly you’ll need to log in to the BulkSMS site, with the account details should already have. Next you’ll need to find the Email to SMS settings section of the site, which should be at the bottom of the page once you have logged in.

From here you’ll need to add Email Addresses to send from:

If you are using Outlook to send Emails from SchoolBase, you will need to set up the email addresses all of the potential users of the New SMS system here. If you are using FBSMail, you only need to set up the super-user’s email address. In each case, the password in the second box is the same password as you use to log in to BulkSMS.

Once this is finished, setup should now be complete.
